The adventures of Maggie

Losing a pet can be a heartbreaking experience.

That’s what happened today. Maggie went missing. The wind was so strong that blew our gate off and Maggie and Bear ran as far as they could. I did not realize that they have gone until I found out I did not catch a glimpse of them running around at the backyard. When I went out to the backyard the gate was wide opened and they have gone. I ran out, I took my house keys and start searching for them unfortunately to no avail. So I went back home and called my husband at his workplace and he went straight home. We split and went different ways. I think not long after 30minutes I walked passed the bridge, Bear ran towards me like telling me “here I am!” I was so happy to see him so we walked back home and Bear ran tiredly back to our backyard. At least Bear comes back and he is fine but deep inside me I felt a bit angry with Maggie. She has bad record of trying to escape all the time. This is the 5th time she had escaped. Once she escaped from home the Ranger caught her at the other side of the City and John took day leave from work just to get her from Burwood. Not only that, John had to pay cost of getting her back from the Pound. She is stubborn, and never listens. She is a very naughty dog. Not like Bear. He is very smart and listens to us. I told John he should send Maggie to Puppy School when she was still puppy but he never did so this is what we have to bear. As the hours go by, my panic still not settles. Maggie still not returns. The guilt and worry leave us wondering, Is she ok? Is she warm out there? Is she wandering lost, hungry and afraid? What happen if someone might hit her?
We called the Pound Dog Rescue to see if they had caught Maggie but the worker told us they only caught 3 dogs and so far they are only Maltese Terrier and no Jack Russell as we had described. The weather starts getting chill at 4 O’clock. We starts getting a little bit more worried. At 4:15pm we called back the Pound Dog Rescue to see if she was there and LUCKY they caught her and lucky she was micro chipped and when she was scanned our address shown up in their screen.

Unfortunately, tonight Maggie has to stay there overnight because no way we can make our way to Geelong Road as quickly as 15minutes because by that time we reached there, they had already closed. So she has to stay there and learnt her lesson. Tomorrow in the afternoon I will be picking her up – Still I know, as always, she does not bother about travel that far and not seeing her owners today. Maybe she will thinks “Yeah – Big deal” }:(

No place to hide

It is certain that whoever takes birth on this earth has to die one day. Death comes to everyone, in every walk of life. This is a basic truth that cannot be denied. Nobody knows when that last breath will be drawn and released.

We've all heard by now the sad news that Michael Jackson has died. I grew up with his music in the 1980s. Many are still reeling from the sad and untimely death of the pop icon and the news continues to dominate the news paying for his tribute today. Whenever someone in the public eye passes on, I always wonder what opportunities they had to repent of their sins and trust in Christ. God isn't moved by how high-profile someone is. We're all equal before the throne in accountability.

We often take our lives for granted. From one moment to the next, nobody knows what will happen. A person could be alive and well one moment, and dead the next - this shows the value of life and the uncertainties of death. Death makes no difference if we are rich or poor, young or old, white or black, man or woman, religious or not. We are simply defined by the lives that we lead, and the legacies we leave behind.

As I began to ponder, I have this questions in my head.. What have we done in our life? Who will remember us? Have we made a difference in someone’s life today?

Why does time seem to move so slow as a kid but move so quickly as we grow older?

When I looked at Ziela's picture which she sent me recently wow I cant believe that time really flies. She already has three kids and this one I guess must be the little one.

We have known each other when we were still kids and we go to the same school. I still remember we have great times when we're just out doing stuff together as friends. Sharing stories, lollies, gossips and jokes in School.

She is the kind of person who helps people and do anything for anybody, very warm cheerful and understanding. To have such a friend in times of need is a wonderful source of strength and you gave me that strength. What a wonderful person you have been...

I loved our childhood. When I look through it I can basically see us grow up. Geez.. I miss those day.

Thank you for being my friend Ziela. No matter where we go or who we become, our friendship will still go strong.

But your FRIENDSHIP has the power that will stays forever".

My eyes stop at the little creek, which runs behind our house

Noah was running around the beach, chasing the seagulls

He can't restrain himself. The chase is too much fun

How high can you go? :)

Pardon me for my absent. Been missing from my column for a long time now. This blog also became idle in couple of months. I had been thinking of quitting this blog due to being so unmotivated to write - totally unmotivated to do anything whatsoever. Recently I’ve had a few emails asking about what’s going on in my lives now and I realized that I haven’t really done a personal update. The opportunity has presented itself.. so here goes..

Well of course, it is winter all over Australia. It is freezing in Melbourne and today as low as 13 degree, but sunny. During this time, the days are getting shorter, the evenings colder, and the night’s wetter. The leaves are changing colors and the air seems a bit crisper than usual. Sooner or later, those multi-colored leaves will be wrinkled and cracking in our driveways and those fall jackets will turn into winter jackets before you know it..

When it comes to winter most people hibernate in their warm homes. The wind chill was spine numbing. It was very cold this few days and the temperature has long been below zero quite last couple of weeks. The cold snap brings wild winds, snow to Victoria. Melbourne is already in the depths of winter. It hurts to be cold. I have to turn the heat up so as not to suffer with muscle pain, joint pain well, the list goes on. I can see our dogs scrunched about as close as they could get every night. I guess they were chilly too like me.

During the cold weather like this, staying warm is my priority. I've had pain in my neck and shoulders for almost three weeks now. Been to the Hospital and was advised to have my blood test and neck scan. Being lazy, I have not set any appointment with the GP as yet. Might be arthritis flaring up? Only difference was, my palms get numbed all night and had been on pain killer – My joints begin to ache, my knees hurt, my fingers begin to feel stiff and painful…*Sigh* I am wearing out..

Nothing much I could do during the winter besides completing my assignments. Sometimes I hate it; sometimes I claim to love it. So far I’ve volunteered for legal aid, read Supreme Court opinions, been a member of the ACLU, etc. But that’s definitely not necessary - which I can see, knowing the backgrounds of some of my classmates, who hadn’t had any previous exposure to the law and are doing great. For sure, though, that’s a good positive indication *is that an excuse?*

Honestly am still interested to be in the employment of legal fraternity but in case I landed in other areas, being an apprentice to a law firm too is also another choice. Ok enough talking about assignments, this shows how much this consumes my life.

So Swine Flu has been in the news a bit lately, have you noticed?

Yes. The latest news is Melbourne ranked at number three, Perth was equal 5th, and Sydney came in at equal. Melbourne has been called the cultural capital, the sports capital and the coffee capital of Australia. Well, another title to Melbourne’s fame is the flu capital. I’m unsure as to what is worse, trying to avoid people who have the flu in order to prevent getting sick or trying to avoid people who have the flu in order to not hear another lame joke about pig flu. I am getting a little bit paranoid with the swine flu outbreak I suppose I just have to console myself with the fact that it's probably still really unlikely that anything bad will happen to me personally; and other than take sensible precautions, there's not a lot I can do to stop the spread of swine flu, properly panicked or not. I’d rather leave the freaking out to people who actually enjoy it, by just being calm and collected.. As they used to say - just hope for the best.

So what else I have been up to all this while? Nothing much besides being another year older and hubby just bought me a software for my PC to make this PC gets a bit quicker – so far so good and been doing fine all this time.
Other than that, Noah and Jacob had stayed with us during the weekend and we had some fun watching some kids movie together at night or Jacob as always, is hooked on play station and end up screaming at night for having nightmares – I guess too much of absorbing too many imaginations on his mind all of a sudden he has language like, 'brain destroyer', 'blood pouring out of ears', 'blasted to bits' :q

Recently they were on the newspaper – kids can’t get enough of having fun. They will be joining the dancing for charity raise awareness and bravo thats the good one.

So much to write about the activities that has been going on, I just post some pictures here and let the picture speak for itself.
